I have a few things to say about this:
1. LOVE the idea for the new campaign. Hopefully MARP will provide info on the “18 local merchants” featured so I can post it here. I see Karen on the bottom right! Some of you recently posted on wanting a fish market. There’s a guy on the bottom holding a fish! Let’s find out what his deal is.
2. How exactly does a chain bank tie in with this campaign? Hey, I’m all for more banks nearby (though I’m annoyed at the lack of an HSBC), but just wondering.
3. Why do all these community events have to be on a weekday afternoon? It was the same with the CH Co-Ops co-generation celebration-thing. I know it’s good to have local politicians on-hand and maybe it’s harder to schedule them on the weekends. But if this stuff is for the community…well, it would be nice to be able to attend, that’s all.
4. Tish James is scheduled to appear. I have to give her props for seemingly being everywhere at all times. I’ve never had a local politician be so visible.

Duncun’s Fish Market is on Myrtle between Clermont and Vanderbilt. It’s on the same block as Chez Lola. It’s not the best fish store, though. I bought Salmon there twice and both times it was not very good. There is another one down on Myrtle across the street from the Associated. I think it’s called Y2K or something like that. They never seem to have what I’m looking for.
The fish store across from the Associated is even worse than Duncun’s. The supermarket across from Choice on Lafayette has a pretty decent fish market in the back.
There is another fish store farther up Myrtle avenue around Taaffe that looks legit. Can’t place the name off the top of my head.
That Pioneer always smells of slightly off fish. I don’t think I’d ever buy from them back there. The ice always seems a little too on the “melting too fast” side which makes me think they’re not keeping those cases cold enough.
yeah… i’ve gotten fish there and it wasn’t good. i noticed a lot of the fish was wrapped in plastic wrap, so it was probably frozen, not fresh…
There is The Fishing Rod on Myrtle. I think is is between Franklin and Skillman. It looks really nice and clean and has a pretty awning. I think it is run by Orthodox Jews. I’ve never been in but that’s just because I’m not the type to cook fish.

[...] 2) Clinton Hill: And speaking of banks, which this column is always doing, a new Bank of America is opening on Myrtle Avenue, and apparently BOA has suckered the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership into joining in on some sort of ambiguous marketing campaign that involves holding up giant fish on sidewalks. Good times. [Clinton Hill Blog] [...]
