Brownstoner told me the storefront on Greene and Grand was already rented, and hinted that it would become something very cool. But the rental signage is still up, and now the laundromat next door has also closed and is available for rent! I’m surprised this hasn’t been jumped on yet. Such an interesting corner (in a good way) for new businesses…

That laundromat closed so abruptly, it was really weird. At first it seemed like they were only going to be closed a few days. One of the ladies that worked there told me they were having a “plumbing problem” but then, two weeks later, the for rent sign was up. It seems like Greene gets pretty decent traffic, I would think a restaurant or two would do well on that corner.
So what was that store supposed to be?
I called yesterday and the Laudromat space is already been rented.
yikes, that sucks for the people who live right around there. that was my laundromat for years, i don’t think there’s any others really nearby. restaurants are nice but where are people gonna wash they damn clothes?
hmm, they used to have a sign in the window that read “Drop of service.” i used to think it was a typo but now i see it was a warning.
There a laundromat about two short blocks away next to pioneer supermarket. The guy that works there is pretty nice. I would love some new food places. Anything besides a pizza or Chinese place would be great. Im tired of walking to dekalb to get some decent food.
Aack! That was my laundromat. There’s that big one on Fulton & Cambridge, but it’s always seemed a little scary. Man, part of the reason I left Park Slope was because all the laundromats near me got priced out and were replaced by card stores. It would be nice to have another restaurant nearby though.
I definitely preferred this laundromat to the one near pioneer. Yeah, the guy that works there is nice, but the dryers in there are always messed up. Really frustrating to deal with.
My girlfriend and I moved here (Cambridge pl. near Greene) about two months ago. I had brought nearly 35 pounds of laundry with me in the move. I was really excited that there was a laundromat right around the corner so I dropped my laundry off there. For the next week and a half, the gates were down and my laundry was sitting in the front of the store, visible, but not accessible. I was soooo frustrated. I called the number on the front (which turned out to be the owner) and after about five tries, finally got in touch with him. He said they were having major water problems. Basically I said that he needed to drop my laundry off to my house because I was sick of going there and not being able to get my laundry. A few weeks later, the for rent sign was up.
I REALLY hope someone just fixes the laundromat and it opens soon. There are plenty of places within a few blocks but none that I’m all that stoked about. The one at Cambridge and Fulton actually isn’t bad. Drop off takes like 4 days but doing it there is nice.
A restaraunt would be amazing in that spot next to it ahhh. please let it be sooo!
Oh, I did get my laundry… The lady that worked there was so nice too. oh well.
it’s weird because they somewhat recently replaced all the machines. well i guess it was like a year ago at least. it’ll be too bad if they can’t make it work, one of the things that attracted me to that intersection was having a bodega and a laundry right there. and i do hope something worthwhile shows up in that old barber shop.
There was a marshal’s sticker in the window not too long ago. I think he meant they did not pay their water bills.
Ooh… I’m so curious!! Keep us posted!!
I am SO mad that laundry mat closed! I hate Clean Rite on Fulton because they do not use hot water!!! Every laundromat on the Fulton side of Clinton Hill has closed down, I’m so disgusted! I think I will have to roll my little laundry cart down Fulton St. to approx. Franklin Ave. to do laundry.
there’s a decent laundromat up the street on waverly (bet. green and lafayette), better than the one next to pioneer. the one on green was so convenient. i was really shocked when it didn’t re-open.
yeah, that laundromat was mine of choice as well. they were pretty clean and friendly plus always had candy on the folding table
but seriously, i would LOVE to see some good restaurants with reasonable pricing appear in that neighbourhood. choice marke up on grand/lafayette is such a good example, and always crowded, as much as i love them for what they are doing, i think they can take it to share the turf a bit … =)
I heard from a very good source that the guys from Choice Market will be opening a small market in a few months. They will sell fruits and vegetables, coffee, cheese, bread, charcuterie, olive oil, etc…
