Remember when the former cleaners was slated to become a 7-11? Readers have been asking me what’s up.
As far as I can tell, there was a problem with flooding in the building (per signage in the window recently). On a recent stroll past, I asked a guy in the doorway what was going in there. His response? “We don’t know yet.”
Wonder why 7-11 pulled out?

What do you think should open here?

Rumor had it that Thai 101 was going to open a new place here. The 7-11 thing was a joke to get people going by the owner that doesn’t seem to like the changes in the neighborhood. Kinda funny when you think about how upset it made people a few months ago.
It should be a kwik-e-mart.
It should be a diner open 24 hours – kinda like diner in wburg
strip club
A nice Caribbean restaurant like Sugar Cane on Flatbush and Bergen.Or a nice bakery with fresh breads, rolls, cakes and pastries.Or a nice cuban/spanish restaurant.or Haagen Daaz? Starbucks?
Perhaps a little coffee shop or a dog grooming place could open there cause it doesn’t seem like we’ve reached the saturation point for either in the nabe.
a mcdonalds with go-go dancers would be cool too.
How about something I cant find in this neighborhood. A shoe maker/zipper repair business.
good shoemaker – Boris on Waverly
btw Lafayette and Greene and very reasonable.
There also used to be one on Myrtle. Not sure if its still there.
Seriously. A diner. Not even a 24 hour one (don’t think there’s enough late-night activity to support one) but one that stayed open past 7:30 would already have a leg up on the other diners in the neighborhood.
I simply can’t understand that. What, was this area once populated solely by farmers and grandparents? Who eats dinner that early?
But, really, it shouldn’t be a restaurant because, as a former dry cleaners, that place is TOXIC.
Hilarious but true houseowax. Makes you wonder. It is every diner I know.Closed by late noon. What gives? Also thanks for the Boris the shoemaker tips. Luv this site.
I’d really like to see a flower shop in the neighborhood. Enough with restaurants.
I also go to Boris on Waverly. He’s great. Used to be on Dekalb
I think that FG/CH could support a 24 hour diner. Heck I’d be happy if it was just 24 hours Fri-Sun.
we need
1) a tasty delite
2) a bakery ( a real italian/french bakery)
3) a diner – now for some who say we can’t support a 24 spot you’d be surprise. I’m sure lots of people walking home from lafayette/fulton bars and elsewhere would get in some disco fries as well as all the police academy students getting some 6 a.m. egg sandwiches
5) a florist
6) a drug store
7) an organic supermaket or fairway
An automat.
Or, a window display with live models, but no products for sale inside.
