Looks like the “looks-from-the-outside-but-not-on-the-inside” florist/garden shop on Fulton near St. James Place has closed. It always looked so cute from the street, but the inside simply had a few plants and a selection of mylar balloons.
I’ll keep an eye on what might be happening. Maybe a good florist will open there? (please?????)

those guys were always so nice. very sad…
walked by last night and there was a sign that another florist is opening. looked the same on the inside.
I spoke to a gentleman last week who seems to be the new owner of the florist shop, he mentioned there would be some changes, but yes a florist, not exactly what fulton needs but anything helps.
i’m still waiting for a bakery. i’m not aware of any decent ones around; is any one else?
Choice Market has nice baked goods.
thanks. frankly, although it’s only 3 blocks away i’ve never gone in because i’ve heard the service is so atrocious but if i’m just picking something up, it doesn’t matter. will give it a shot.
Choice doe shave nice baked goods but really a “bakery” selection.
The service really is sub-par there, although the food is great (not sure if that makes up for it). I always feel somewhat intimidated when I’m in there too. I’m sure it’s not justified but I just get this weird feeling like I’m not good enough or too plain to be going in there. Bothers me but I’m going there to get lunch today so I guess it doesn’t bother me all that much. I just hope their produce/cheese place is as good (and inexpensive) as we’d like it to be. I live on Cambridge right around the corner from it.
I dont understand why everyone hates on Choice. Aside from waiting on a line that often moves slowly and is long as well as stepping over and around strollers- I dont see what the problem is. The staff is always very nice and totally attitude free.
“Aside from waiting on a line that often moves slowly and is long”. For me, there is no “aside from”. I find such waiting–for no good reason other than lousy service–to be a deal breaker.
also, i thinking of a bakery more along the lines of a place with pies, tarts and other dessert-y stuff more than bread stuffs. but maybe if i have an hour to spare sometime to buy bread, i’ll stop in.
I don’t dislike it. I just meant that they are not a full service bakery.
They actually do have pies, tarts, and other desserts. The ones that I have tried have been really good too. I think for me it’s just a matter of there being at least 4 people working behind the counters and I’m standing there without getting attention for 3 to 5 minutes. Honestly though, I was just there and it wasn’t bad at all. I feel like I’m nitpicking now. You should check it out for yourself…
I love Choice Market. Their panini’s are very delicious (actually, we just had them last night). I agree, the service isn’t the best and the wait can be long. I usually call ahead and then wait 5-10min before walking over for pickup. Their baking goods are very good too but I don’t buy much since my wife is a very good baker!
well, will definitely give it a shot. didn’t mean to run the thread off course!
yeah! flowers… Reasons had a really poor selection but they were always so nice. Our vases have been empty since they closed.
Anyone know what is being developed at 923 Fulton St? It is next to 921 whose signage states the establishment as Beauty Bar…currently being developed also .located on fulton tween clinton and waverly. Also passed by the former Bodegas restaurant on Clinton and Fulton and gates were up and activity in location. Any word on what is going to be there. I also would love a bakery with fresh baked bread made on the premises….ummm.Actually the Foodtown in Bedstuy on Fulton and Brooklyn is very nice. Trekked over there. Good bakery, fresh seafood, deli, cheese sections and small flower section too. We need a nice supermarket in Clinton Hill.
For a bakery, check out Heavenly Crumbs at Franklin and Lexington. Amazing cupcakes, breads, cookies, etc. They’re friendly and the goods are super tasty.
Heavenly Crumbs is good but not in Clinton Hill. We need a good bakery on Fulton as well as a butcher, drug store and book store.

I.worked.at.Reasons.for.a.very.short.time(Nov.06to.March07)..they.were.just.terrible.businessmen,all.about.making.a.buck.for.their.pocket.but.not.investing.anything.back.into.the.store..Im.surprised.they.lasted.as.long.as.they.did.

I.hope.the.new.owners.do.a.better.job.It.was.such.a.great.location.and.the.locals.that.I.met.when.working.there.were.really.excited.when.they.saw.plants.and.a.cooler.full.of.flowers.and.didnt.have.to.go.to.the.market.or.to.the.city.to.buy.all.of.it.I.think.it.really.could.have.been.something.great..
I bought flowers there twice.
I always thought it was a front.
No one seemed to have the slighted idea about flowers and were not very welcoming.
