Reader Ashley sent me some juicy gossip on some Grand area developments…
So, I was passing by an empty storefront on Greene today, the one next door
to the next incarnation from the neighborhood tastemakers at Choice Market.
This empty space used to be a salon. Anyhoo, I asked the guy working on the
space what was going in there. He said a yoga studio! Happy freakin’ day!
Oh, and Namaste.
ALSO, I was passing by the ever mysterious “Mirrors on Grand” space on Labor
Day. It appeared that someone (presumably the owners) were hosting a private
holiday party inside the not yet finished, but very promising space. There
was a bar, and lovely exposed brick walls It looked nice even though there’s
clearly more work to be done before they can open anything.
This neighborhood is hoppin’!
Wow — maybe Mirror’s on Grand might actually be decent (someday).

My boyfriend and I and another friend stopped into Mirrors on Saturday. They said they were having a soft opening. The space was nice – I hope they dopn’t put mirrors on the back wall as they plan. Have no idea what the final vibe is going to be – the people inside seemed to be chance wanderers like ourselves. They were screening Purple Rain. After one drink we scurried across the queer-friendly multi-culti mothership that is Grand 275. We realized Mirros looked even better from across the street.
p-d, were you sold and served an alcoholic beverage?
Why yes, I was. Are you suggesting I lack the years to receive such service? (I assure you I watched aforementioned Purple Rain in its first run!) Or that Mirrors may not have a liquor license yet? Oops.
I happen to be noisy on saturday and stop by i had a glass of wine and tap beer it was a soft opening they said. I did happen to see a permit they had posted near the bar from the liquor authority.
why is it that everytime someone trys to open something in this area people always think the NEGITIVE!!!!
Lesterhead can you explain what you mean when you say “it might be decent (someday).
also neighborhood slang “ITS POPPIN” NOT HOPPIN!!!
Oh My!!!
The most anticipated spot in the neighborhood opened its doors and I missed it! Happened to drive by while they were open and saw how fabulous the placed turned out. Who would have thought that hole in the wall was such a gem. Glad to see it coming ’cause I’m not African and I’m mot Gay, LMAO!
I stopped by mirrors on Saturday. I spoke to the owner (very nice woman). The soft open was in honor of her mom that passed away on that date a year prior (they were handing out cancer awareness ribbons). And there was a temp. liquor license. The official open date is scheduled for October 6th. Looking forward to it!
I’m new to the blog, but we live right down from Mirrors, and we’re very excited about it finally opening. With the new French Market opening in the old launramat on Greene and Grand, we’ll have a couple of great new places.
