Thankfully, the Starbucks rumors were wrong. They will NOT be moving into the storefront on Myrtle across from Kum Kau (at Washington). Instead, NYCPet.com will be moving in.

They already operate two stores in Park Slope and offer delivery and online ordering. Word has it that they will also be offering veterinary services!
We do have a few vets in the area already (at Kiki’s on DeKalb and Brooklyn Vet Hospital on Vanderbilt), but anyone who has had to lug an overweight cat to the vet in an unwieldy carrier will surely appreciate the convenience of additional services in the area.

Great! Let’s keep CH as chain-free as possible! I can keep hitting up Tillie’s and Choice without a problem.
We have ordered from NYCpet.com for years — first from the Park Slope store and now from the one in Williamsburg. The people are super nice and they really know what they’re talking about. I’ve called and asked for food recommendations for our sort of picky cats or some toy they’ll like and they always take the time to chat. I’ll probably still just call and order, but I’m happy they’ll be in the ‘hood! Mini-Brooklyn chains are good…well, sometimes.
I had heard that the vet from Kiki’s was going to operate out of that space. Is that true?
glad about not been sturbucks but not glad about another pet shop! grocery good green fucking grocery
i like starbucks
The ‘hood needs a Starbucks.
what new york doesn’t need is another starbucks. you walk through the city and all of you see is the same damn thing on every corner. new york is meant to be ecclectic, and independent coffee shops with different vibes and sumatras are all but missing these days due to everyone’s need to conform to the same old same old. lately there is nothing that distiniguishes new york from the other cities in this country, and the acceptance of mass corporate chain stores is contributing to the disappearance of what used to be the foremost forward thinking, creatively infused metropolis on the planet.
Just wanted to give a shout out to my favorite pet shop in New York: Myrtle pets on Myrtle and Franklin. Jerry and his family are friendly and kind and always give us the best service!
I want to support myrtle pets too. Now I am torn.
I went in NYC Pet today and there is no vet service. It is neat and clean, and well organized. The woman behind the counter said a vet would be moving in down the block, but not sure where
