I’ve actually never eaten here (Myrtle at Hall), but I stopped in for the first time recently to find it was packed, with a wait. Must be tasty. Is it?

It’s quick and cheap for breakfast (with no annoying brunch-y menu items)… lots of Pratt students were in there when I ate there… but I haven’t been for lunch or dinner…
My pals who went to Pratt back in the day introduced me to this place. For greasy spoons in the nabe, John’s rocks. I even prefer it to Mike’s on DeKalb, even though Mike’s is next door to me.
My picks: their homemade lemonade, and the turkey club. Their omelets are good too. And it ain’t half bad that their prices seem to be stuck in the late ’70s. Another recommendation of note: Stay away from the doughnuts.
This place is a good, basic diner. Prices are great and the food is good. People who work there are nice, too.
It has always seemed to be closed more than open to me.
It’s a morning and early afternoon joint. I always get the turkey burger combo with a mix of french fries and onion rings.
This is one of the only places in the hood to get something to eat at 5am.
Great, inexpensive muffins and the coffee is decent too. They get $10+ out of me every week as I stop in there on a daily basis for my morning coffee + muffin on my way to work.
Very friendly staff and lots of New York’s finest as well in the mornings.
OMG the egg sandwiches!!! I’m going there tomorrow. . . so good!!!
Everything there is good – lots of fresh pastries & donuts (duh)
We lived on Hall between Myrtle and Park for about 10 years and john’s was like our extended kitchen. When our kids were small, we would all sleep late on Saturday and get great breakfasts delivered to our door…..during the week, filled with a lot of locals and Sanitation guys..friendly, with great comfort foods and soups..after we moved we loved our new neighborhood but we still miss John’s for simple, cheap, home style food…
it is amazing in there. You have to squeeze in really tight, but someone is always singing at the counter, one time had really good harmony going with rockn’ robin. The prices are cheaper than mikes and the lemonaid is real. What makes me angry is the 24 hour signs and the fact that i have never seen more than one donut in there. OHHHH and you have to get there early to get the homefries. they run out realy quick and you have to resort to fries. Mikes you cant basically get homefries all day.
john’s donut is a solidly good breakfast place! just don’t get john’s donuts because they will leave you feeling heavy and sick. but all the other food is great! and so so very cheap.
Great doughnuts!
