Marquet is that place on Fulton, near Habana Outpost. They have the most delicious ham and cheese croissants.
I say Connecticut Muffin is notable for having really good coffee and super friendly service.
Marquet also has really good omelets that they serve with french fries and very reasonable prices.
I was enjoying the fact that Marquet was “undiscovered”. Dammit.
Adellevis, I agree! Connecticut muffin rocks.
anyone know what is going in at Greene AVe and Fulton St in the old hardware space on the corner?
Connecticut Muffin is TERRIBLE! Their coffee is like melted crayons.
I tend to agree with a couple of the posters – how is it that Tillie’s is still open. Smooch too.
I can’t say I like the taste of melted crayons…. maybe you went there on a bad day?
@ #7 Limestone: What’s wrong with Tillie’s coffee?
The coffee at Tillie’s is ok, but their service is rude. And that’s on a good day. Tillie’s blows. Smooch’s coffee is pretty good, but not for the prices they charge.
Can’t say I’ve ever had a problem with Connecticut Muffin’s coffee – but the one time I ordered their “hot chocolate” I saw that it nothing but a packet of Swiss Miss, and I can do that at home, thanks.
It was on numerous occasions. So much so that I’ve given up on them.
Tillie’s has just consistently underwhelmed me. Although the ability to hang out on the bench with my dogs keeps me going back.
Marquet is great. Super cheap but tasty food. The croisant with spinach, smoked salmon and cream cheese is yummy!
Marquet really is great. There’s another on Court Street (a trend that kind of worries me, 5th Ave Park Slope and Smith Street Carroll Gardens share about 8 boutiques now). However, love love love Marquet. Of all the faux-French contrivances in the world of cafes, they are possibly the real deal. Proof? While sitting and eating my french (!) fries and ham/cheese croissant, they were blasting Shannon – Let The Music Play.
What’s wrong with Tillie’s? Seriously?
Oh! Tillie’s is so gross! Burned coffee, stale pastries, rude service, grimy floor.
well all you connecticut muffin lovers, one is opening up in the old chase home loans spot on lafayette ave off fulton st. now i really wonder if the rumors of a starbuck on fulton off s oxford are true.
Went into that Greene Grape provision store at Fulton and So. Oxford the other day. They have a self-service coffee station with a TIP JAR. WTF, they expect ME to give THEM a tip for pouring MY OWN coffee? Ban tip jars!
