Funny that the arena is still going forward. And when you combine that article with the article on the ticket prices for the new Yankee Stadium you begin to wonder how a working class person can afford to attend a professional sporting event any more.

This may may actually turn out worse than the originally proposed plan. Ratner will surely want to get his money out of the investment. He could build the office buildings and luxury apartments and “run out of money” before getting to the affordable housing portion of the project. He’d still ugly-fy our neighborhood and there’d be no benefit (if there ever was one) to the community as promised.

Woo hoo! Now we get abandoned train yards and construction flotsam across from the projects instead of new buildings! Celebrate!
A working class person isn’t supposed to go to sporting events…they are supposed to stay at home and watch while
CEOs, their families and their minions are to sit in luxury box seats and enjoy the athletics.
