Boca Soul, on Fulton between Clinton and Vanderbilt, didn’t last very long. The food was tasty, but it just didn’t take.
There appears to be something new opening in that space:
Thanks to reader Brian for tipping me off. I might not have noticed otherwise, as the awning is the same color.
The website, shockingly, doesn’t work. But I’ll definitely check it out.
Props to the other businesses who’ve been holding their own on Fulton, despite the never-ending construction (Olivino, ‘Cure, Fish and Crustaceans, Autour du Monde, etc).

Any word on what type of cuisine? Also White Lily Restaurant on Fulton St and Grand Ave seems to have closed and now a new restaurant called Samantha’s Southern Cuisine seems to be opening in its place.White Lily didnt last long probably because of lack of traffic due to construction.Good luck to the new restaurant.
Pretty sure Samantha’s is White Lilly under a new name as the menue seems about the same. Haven’t tried either incarnation although I’d like too soon. Any reports. Also, any reports on Bar Olivino on Fulton. As a loyal Olivino patron I’m curious.
while we’re on new restaurants… does anyone have any updates on June? I see work going on in there.

That space was tiny, so I’m having trouble picturing what it will look like. I live right around the corner and I’m also a regular Olivino customer. I haven’t been there since I read the brownstoner post so I haven’t gotten any dish on it yet. I wonder if they’ll hire any of the store employees as bartenders. If so it should be a very friendly place.
You know, Boca Soul was overall tasty, I just didn’t like waiting for my enthusiasm for soul food to fade before my food arrive. I also did not like my food arriving without sides, because they “ran out.” Finally, under no circumstances, do I like dining in a locally owned and run restaurant decorated like a new-concept Denny’s in Mt Laurel, NJ. My advice to the owner of the new place? Don’t go home until the customers do.
The atmosphere at Dajeh is welcoming, ideal for a private dinner, but also sutiable for a few friends getting together, plus the food is great. The menu has a little bit of everything, so you can usually find something to satify your craving. So far everything I’ve had has been very tasty. It now one of my favorite spots.
