On an ambitions jog last night, I noticed that the door to The General Greene was open. Inside, a lone woman worked on a laptop. Of course, I walked right in. Turns out she’s the manager, and she had good news!
The space will be open tomorrow night after 9pm, as well as over the weekend, for drinks and bar snacks. The official opening will be TUESDAY, JULY 1.
A reader who checked it out last weekend described the beer selection as being “great (small but delicious),” and said the eggplant spread was “pretty tasty.”

Walked past the empty space next to Bonita the other day (in the building that has been under construction for a better part of the last decade) and they seem to be constructing a restaurant there too. It looked pretty cool inside. I think it used to be an italian restaurant there a long long time ago? But I may be thinking of what used to be in the Bonita space. Anyone have any deets?
I saw that too. Cino’s used to be where Bonita is. I’m just happy that someone is finally doing something with that building. The scaffolding has been up for years.
The manager was very nice when I popped in.
As long as they have good service, it will be welcome addition to the hood. I can forgive just-ok food when the staff are friendly and nice. Hence, I don’t eat at Chez Oskar.
KP, The space you are talking about used to be owned by the son of the man who owned Cellars Bar Resteraunt across the street. The sons space used to be called Cellars Two and seemed to be rented out for parties. I wonder if he is doing the makeover or if he sold it?
I hope someone opens Cajun Creole .
Cheers.
just checked it out this afternoon with my husband. we had a great time – good food and an enthusiastic staff. not sure what the complaints are about. as usual.
