I’ve received numerous reports, from readers, BK Jay and the Myrtle Shuffle blog, that Il Porto is open as of today!
They have a very basic website up with menus so far.
Original Il Porto coverage here.

any word on if they plan to offer delivery? i really like graziella’s but the fact that they dont deliver never ceases to annoy me.
I stopped by Il Porto’s opening party today, it was awesome, all free food and drinks. They were super nice. The owner said they are opening officially this Thursday. Graz’s does deliver, but only till like 5:30 because they say they get too busy in the evening. Looks like they have competition now ; )
The salads at il porto are awesome……..the Nutella Pie CALLED THE “WALLABOUT”….OUT OF THIS WORLD….NUTELLA CHOCOLATE SPREAD…MARSHMELLOWS….NUTS AND YOUR CHOICE OF SEASONAL FRUITS…MMM BLUEBERRY…WOW
what are the cross streets?
Washington and Park Ave.
Pizza + Chocolate/Marshmallow Pie= HEAVEN
[...] Il Porto at at 37 Washington Avenue opens today, and the restaurant has menus up on its Website. [Clinton Hill Blog] Midtown East: Frank Bruni calls the desserts at Adour “a highlight of any meal there” to kick off [...]
They should probably change their address on the website… it currently says “37 Washingtong”
I dont care if they cant spell Pizza
Went there today for lunch and this is
some great pizza, crunchy crust, just enough cheese
I had to try the Wallabout and it was a delicious desert, You have to buy it by the pie and we had intentions of bringing it home but ate the entire 12″ pie, YUMMY
@ESP How does it compare to Graziella’s?
i like graziellas but peronally think il porto blows them away…i guess that means i love il porto……..anyway try for yourself..they are open i think till 11 or 12..and they deliver till i believe 10 or 11..u gotta try the wallabout pie..yummy
We stopped by last night. The food was good although I think I prefer Graziella’s pizza. We’ll be by again soon.
I wonder if the owners are connected to the former owner’s of Il Torchio. The salad my wife had was exactly what they served at Il Torchio and several of the waiters were the same. Also the space has a similar designed with wood beams.
Tried Il Porto and loved it!!! I’ve been in the area for years and am glad to have a real italian spot to go to. In reference to the il torchio question. I’m not sure if it’s the same family but It’s deff. the same manager I used to go and see him all the time at torchio…He made that place…glad he’s back in the neighborhood. We should deff. support this place
i love that block. my favorite waiter (from il Torchio) is at il Porto. he soooo doesn’t know what a big crush i have on him. now i can grab some great pizza and visit RePOP across the street. i wonder if they’ll consider staying open later now that there’s somewhere else to go on that block?
we probably will remain open a little later thurs – sat evening if the demand and traffic increases. also, to answer an earlier questions il Porto is located on Washington Ave. between Park and Flushing – closer to Flushing.
SOMEONE WAS TELLING ME THAT IL PORTO MAY PLAN TO OFFER A SERVICE OF PICKING YOU UP AT YOUR HOME (BY CAR OF COURSE)WITH ADVANCED RESERVATIONS IF YOU LIVE A CERTAIN DISTANCE AWAY. INTERESTING ! IF THATS NOT PIONEERING I DONT KNOW WHAT IS…DOES ANYONE ELSE OFFER THIS SERVICE???
I ordered in from Il Porto tonight. They could not have been nicer on the phone and the food was here within in 20 minutes. The Washington Pizza (BBQ Chicken) was amazing. The penne looked good too, but we got a side of garlic broccoli that was an oily/weird tasting mess. The pizza is a bit pricey but totally worth it.
We had a Sicilian pie delivered yesterday. It was very good. Probably the best delivery in the neighborhood.
Stopped by Il Porto and picked up pizza because they don’t have a wine or beer yet. Only in the next two weeks. I had the mushroom pizza which was ok. What was nice was that the cook brought a focaccia type sample to us while we waited. Really nice. The famly seems really nice and excited about the enterprise. I just feel bad for them because the decoration in there is garrish. They spent a lot of money on what could have been done so simply. They faux stained glass for instance would look so much better as just glass. And the Green/Bronze wall in the seating area is just terrible. Futhermore the tin sun with cheap looking candlesticks is depressing. They should really have gone for a clean feel. I would have then bought or made some blown up old black and white pictures of the navy yard for the brick walls and presto! They definitely need to rethink the decor. That place has the potential to be a knock out.
i disagree with you i think the place looks fabulous. the tables are absolutely stunning, and the brick oven itself is a work of art, THE FOOD IS UNBELIEVEABLE, all and all i give them 4.5 stars. great job !
