The sign is finally up at the new Choice Market venture, just around the corner from the original. Located on Greene near Grand, the new location will be more of an actual market, selling meats, cheeses, breads and even flowers (per the original news more than a year ago).
Looking good!

I am so excited – I love Choice. Yes, sometimes ordering there is a disaster – but the products are great and the pricing is definitely fair.
All that being said, that area really could use a laundromat – a nice clean one would be a big plus! Seeing that the space used to be a laundry kinda bummed me out a bit. But otherwise, should be awesome…
Also- what is the space around the corner on Grand south of Greene – it looks like a resto but has been in current state for months. Any clues?
there is a laundromat on lafayette and grand, right next to the grocery store…
i am happy for another choice, but it doesn’t look like they thought about the layout much, yet again. lines in that place are awkward and ordering is a nightmare. the community table sucks as well and there’s rarely ever a place to sit. you’d think they would take those considerations in mind when opening a new place but i am sad to see that may not be the case.
you can already tell that the lines are going to be awkward at choice greene? that’s so precient of you. it looks gorgeous to me.
Yes..also wondering what that spot on Clifton and Grand is slated to be .Originally was said to be brick oven pizzeria, but with Luigis opening up in the old 275 grand space, what is this place going to be now? Also anyone know what is going to replace the video shop that went out of business on Downing and Gates”?
Lothar – I am not commenting on the photo. The place (and sign) have been up for the last couple of weeks and since I live in the area I peeked in. Trust me, the layout is practically identical. I encourage you to take a look yourself.

I’ve had a tour of the new Choice and it’s actually very thoughtfully laid out. It’s a food market, not a prepared foods shop, so it bears little comparison to the other store. There are clear areas for food items (cheese, fish, meat, etc) that will be staffed so folks can get help, and a checkout area at the front. Unlike the original Choice, the checkout will only be for checkout, not order-taking.
Again, Choice Greene will only be selling groceries, so there won’t be people waiting around for their food to be made.
And the owner is planning on re-doing the layout of the first Choice soon–he knows it’s problematic.
more stuff in wallabout now! bring a choice over here and feed these people in the navy yard!
the layout is reminiscent of Lassen and Hennigns on Montague, with food in the back and a cashier up front. I think it will be fine. There is going to be plenty of room to sit in the back yard, which is really beautiful.
I hear rumors of some kind of furniture place at the old bodega spot on grand.
I’m glad he’s going to be reorganizing Choice … that layout drives me nuts! I don’t even go in if I see there’s more than a few people in there.
I’ve heard that storefront on Grand and Clifton is going to be the site of the new bookstore, but I don’t know if that’s true.
This is not another “Choice Market”, this is a grocery store own by the same folks, so it should not be compared.
is anyone going to the book store event tonight? I think it is tonight… She didn’t get the lease on the grand/clifton spot + I think she wants more space…
Weird that the place that is more of a market is not the one named “Choice Market.”
