I walked past Bonita a few Thursdays ago to pick up some take-out pre-debate and I noticed the lights on at 247 DeKalb Ave! As far as I know, this building is owned by the family of the guy who owned Cellars (am I correct? His son maybe?) and has been covered in scaffolding for as long as I can remember.
There are a bunch of permits in the window, too! Looks like it’ll be a restaurant. Per an internet search, they filed for a liquor license in August.

it’s been under construction for the new bar for months now. the building went to auction last year, pretty sure new owner.
yay! can’t wait!!
also, does anyone know what’s going in at the old ‘location location location’ space on dekalb @ carlton (beside the yoga stuido)?
the door was open this morning and it looked as though they were building a bar or some sort of partition out of bricks as part of a major rennovation.
i’m excited to see the vacant sorefronts being filled!
I poked my head in at the place next to the yoga studio, I think it’s 284, and asked what was coming. A woman inside told me it was going to be a restaurant, and I asked what kind, she said: “a good restaurant”. I’m excited to see what it is!
Speaking of good restaurants, anyone been to No 7 (I think that’s what it’s called) by the Lafayette C stop? I went there a few nights ago, and it was really friggin good. Skip the (tiny, overpriced) apps and go straight to the entrees. Also, what is up with Cellar’s? I know Mr. Cellar passed away last year, but is it ever going to reopen?
Enough with the restaurants on DeKalb. What we need in CH/FG is a better variety of stores. Retail along with all the restaurants. Hopefully as Myrtle develops it will become a better mixed-use destination.
247 DeKalb is going to be a burger and beer/cocktails hang-out. My friend’s landlord (a perfectionist when it comes to rehabs) is partial partner in this development, the apartments about this space are HUGE and will be beautiful as well.
In the old “locationx3″ space will be Mary Ann’s, they tell me “ice cream, coffee, salads and sandwiches”. There is a LARGE back patio, I live across the street, so I am excited about that one too!
As for Cellars, from what I hear, it’s just sitting with the family after the owner passed away. I don’t see this changing hands anytime soon, which makes me
