Myrtle Minutes reports that Myrtle Thai, one of many Thai restaurants in the area, is moving further west down Myrtle into a more “intimate” space.
I hope they’re doing OK. I usually prefer them for takeout over Thai 101 – they’re a little less expensive and usually deliver more quickly.

Its moving into one of the commercial spaces in CHAOC.
do any of the local thai restaurants not use FISH Sauce in their dishes? Im a vegetarian and would like to avoid the fish sauce but it seems to be near impossible. The pad thai, massaman curry, jungle currry from Mannee thai all have fish sauce…what about the other joints?
I really haven’t found any good Thai in Clinton Hill. I usually order from that place on Washington and St Marks in Prospect Heights.
Manee Thai is the best Thai food in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill. TRUST. If you haven’t tried it yet, do so this weekend!
I have been afraid to try Manee Thai because it’s the same people as Myrtle Thai which is the same people as Fulton Thai which is disgusting. Am I wrong?
My wife and I used to order from Thai 101 all the time, but the quality of the food (particularly the pad thai) seems lower lately, so we tried Myrtle Thai, and we love it. Whenever I’ve visited the old location to pick up an order, the phone would be ringing off the hook but the dining room would be nearly empty. The place wasn’t much for atmosphere, but the food is tasty.
i tried thai 101 recently and it was decent – not the best thai i’ve had in brooklyn though – but a trillion times better than fulton thai, which is HORRIBLE. i kept giving futon thai a shot because it’s the only thai restaurant that will deliver to my apartment but after the SECOND time i found a strand of hair in my food i called it quits.
I’d love to find some Thai in the hood that isn’t ridiculously greasy!
Halsey–Do you know the name of the place in prospect heights?
I’d also love to have some Korean food nearby…
there’s very good take-out korean on myrtle, at sushi okdol—half the menu is japanese/sushi, and half is korean.
Agree with Alli(Oops), Halsey – Mannee Thai is by far the best in the walkable area. They are from the same family as Myrtle Thai (not sure about Fulton but menu looks the same) – but it’s the sons as opposed to the father running the spot. They redesigned the restaurant last year to try and distinguish themselves from the “competition”; the space seats fewer than before but it’s nicer and they added some DELICIOUS flair to the menu (Massaman roti for example). IMHO folks can cook better Thai food at home than what you get from Thai 101/Myrtle Thai/Fulton Thai – head to Bangkok Center Grocery in Chinatown and you can find everything you need. Even Pioneer on Lafayette’s carrying lemongrass now.
jimbob – i have seen very few Thai recipes that don’t use fish sauce as the “salty” of the sweet/salty/savory/spicy palate assault you get from Thai food is invariably fish sauce – even salads call for a few drops. i’ve seen soy sauce suggested as a substitute, but that ultimately changes the dish. It seems like you’d either want to enjoy Thai food for what it is or try another cuisine that meets your dietary needs.
THAI 101 FOREVER! Best pad ke mow in the hood!
This is my favorite Thai in the ‘hood. They’re moving like four doors down. Whew.
Love the Angel Shrimp and their wings.
I tried Thai 101 once and thought it was awful. I used to order from Myrtle Thai and then Mannee when they opened and thought they were pretty good, but the last 2-3 times I ordered it was really bad and haven’t ordered in months. I was hoping people would have some other thai suggestions. Also, I got sushi from sushi okdol once years ago when I first moved to the hood and threw it out halfway through. That was the worst sushi I’ve ever had!
i too am vegetarian and find it annoying i cant get vegetarian thai food. i know it is not impossible to make vegetarian thai food as their are restaurants in the city that do cater to the veggie needs. unfortunate that local places dont follow suit. i guess for now ill continue to go too PUKK.
