The Department of Buildings violation report on the building doesn’t look good…
http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/ECBQueryByLocationServlet?requestid=1&allbin=3054522
Holy SHIZ! I used to live a block away on Myrtle, and with all the constuction going on around and behind my building it made me pretty nervous about how secure my building was.
Yikes on those building violations. It would be a big presumption to say it’s related, but National Grid has been doing a lot of work on Myrtle, and I know my building rumbles a fair amount. I imagine it’s fairer to suggest the empty lot next door provided the catalyst. Pretty scary though.
I went running too! Surprised I didn’t see ya there. here are my pics

I ducked into Associated when they cleared everyone away.
I have more pictures from the scene posted here – benhider.com/blog
Just saw on the news. Hope everyone is okay. I feel for the people who live in the buildings.
Bloomie needs to get construction safety under control NOW, even if that means a moratorium on all construction. Too many buildings are falling lately.
construction safety courses should be taken by the workers related to this field, lack of training leads to such incidents.
