Building on Top of Associated

Brownstoner recently posted plans that show the design for the Associated buildout (buildup?) on Waverly Ave.  For some reason, I don't recall hearing about this before, and it looks pretty interesting.  I do hope the plan includes a few renovations of the market itself, although overall it's not bad.  They have definitely upped their selection of goods since I moved nearby in 2004 and the staff is super friendly. The footprint of all of the businesses on the block are interesting - they all have an enormous amount of space (as seen from above in the co-ops), but some of the storefronts are super tiny inside.

My Favorite Haunted House: Finally For Sale

When I first moved to the neighborhood, almost the entire row of houses on the east side of Waverly between Greene and Gates were boarded up.  Now, just one remains.  It's long been a favorite of mine, as I watched its neighbors get redone and once again become beautiful homes. Now, this last shell standing is for sale, through Brooklyn Properties.

This purchase is not for someone looking to move right in.  The listing states:

I hope someone will give this place the love it needs.

Teen Challenge House on the Market

Received a tip this morning about the mysterious mansion on Clinton between Lafayette and Greene - there's a huge for sale sign in the front!

Brownstoner is reporting that the building is listed at $5.5 million and comes with a carriage house on Vanderbilt.  (He also has some cool history on the building as well.)

So why is Teen Challenge selling this gorgeous place?  Where are they moving the female residents?

Condos on Clinton

When I first moved to the neighborhood, this brownstone (Clinton bt Fulton and Gates) was not in the best shape.  That big bay window in the front was covered up by various doors (anyone remember this??) and the whole place itself looked pretty crumbly.

Now it's condos, though I can't find a single bit of info on this place online.

Haunted Mansion For Sale!!

forsale Everyone's favorite Haunted Mansion in Clinton Hill has been put up for sale!!!  Rumor has it that the owner has lived here for years without electricity and heat.  The yard is always overgrown, but there's always a nice selection of planters on the balcony.

Brownstoner has more history and info.  Apparently the place is going to need a complete gut renovation on the inside.  And at $3.995M, that seems a little steep.  Who has the cash for something like this?

Can't wait for an open house.

Intriguing Loft Condos

There's a lot of action up on Grand between Myrtle and Park. Most intriguing is the "Retro Loft."

Unlike the other stuff flying up nearby, this building was already here and is being repurposed.

Directly across the street, we have this dorm-like building with a wonky awning and a nice parking lot:

What do these places look like on the inside???
